1A1: Presidential Election 2011

Our Presidential election by Sarah Murphy, 1A1.
Today in CSPE class we voted for Ireland's President. We made up a register, anyone who was not on it was not allowed to vote.
There were seven candidates: Mary Davis, Michael D. Higgins, Gay Mitchell, Martin Mc Guinness, David Norris, Sean Gallagher and Dana Rosemary Scallon.
We queued outside the classroom with our polling cards and ID. We went inside one by one and were handed a card with all the candidates names on it, after we had shown our ID and polling card. 
We then voted and put our votes in the ballot box. After everyone had votes we checked if the votes were valid or not valid. 
After calculating the quota and counting at all the vaid votes, the class deemed Michael D. Higgins elected President of class 1A1.
